Our Mission
To provide accessible counselling and psychotherapy that helps veterans of all genders and adults in the wider community navigate life’s difficult terrain through safe, professional and compassionate support.
About Pathfinder
Pathfinder Therapy CIC is a veteran-founded community interest company providing counselling and psychotherapy for veterans of all genders and adults in the wider community navigating life’s most challenging terrain.
Our story
Life can leave people facing terrain they never expected: trauma, injury, loss, anxiety, depression, relationship strain, identity change or the impact of military service.
Pathfinder Therapy CIC exists to provide safe, professional support when the route forward is not clear. Our approach is grounded, human and clinically responsible.
Our veteran support is inclusive of all genders, including women veterans, male veterans, reservists, serving personnel and families.
We use the language of terrain, direction and navigation because therapy is not about fixing people. It is about helping people understand where they are, what they are carrying, and what the next safe step might be.
To provide accessible counselling and psychotherapy that helps veterans of all genders and adults in the wider community navigate life’s difficult terrain through safe, professional and compassionate support.
A future where people facing trauma, transition, injury, loss or emotional distress can access the right support without stigma, confusion or unnecessary barriers.
We work collaboratively, respectfully and ethically. We support people to develop understanding, resilience, emotional safety and a clearer route forward.
Why terrain?
Some people arrive in rocky terrain. Some feel trapped in a valley. Some are trying to find a path through dense forest. Some are climbing steep ground. Some need a plateau: a place to stabilise, breathe and regain perspective.
The Pathfinder brand reflects the therapeutic journey: not a straight line, not a quick fix, but a process of finding a route through difficult terrain.
Standards and accreditations
Pathfinder Therapy CIC is recognised by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society as an NCPS Recognised Counselling Service.
NCPS Membership No: RCS6035
This organisational recognition supports our commitment to safe, ethical and accountable counselling provision.
It sits alongside our internal standards for safeguarding, clinical supervision, practitioner suitability, complaints handling, data protection and service governance.
Professional foundations
Pathfinder Therapy CIC is being developed with clear governance, appropriate clinical oversight and a commitment to professional standards. We aim to provide support that is accessible, accountable and suitable for the communities we serve.
Our work is supported by our Patron, Gregg Stevenson MBE, whose experience of military service, rehabilitation, veterans’ mental health and Armed Forces advocacy closely aligns with the purpose of Pathfinder Therapy CIC.
Pathfinder is structured as a CIC, created to deliver community benefit rather than private shareholder profit.
Therapeutic services require clear contracting, professional boundaries, appropriate assessment and suitable clinical supervision.
Our work recognises the impact of service, transition, injury, trauma, identity and family systems on mental health and wellbeing. Pathfinder has also signed the Armed Forces Covenant as part of our public commitment to the Armed Forces community.
